Event: Heart of the Alleghenies (HOTA) Folk Music Festival

A wonderful weekend of learning, sharing, playing and performing dulcimer, folk and fiddle music in an informal college setting. Concerts, vendors, jams, workshops, dances, instrument swap. Folk, Bluegrass, Irish, Scottish, Old-Time and Gospel music.

Cost: $50 all weekend advance, plus housing and meal service

Comments: Rough camping, situated 100 yards from the festival Jam Tent, includes access to residence hall showers. Camping for RVs and fifthwheels also available. Residence halls fully air-conditioned, with high-speed internet connection. Camping, residence halls, dining hall, workshops and concerts all within walking distance of each other. The campus is fully handicap accessible.

The 3rd Annual Red Hill Music Festival will be held on Saturday,10/11/2008 starting at 9:00 am at the United Methodist Church 400 S Christy, Sumner, Il., 62466. Workshops will be held in autoharp, mountain dulcimer, hammer dulcimer, Irish whistle and guitar. Instructors include Tull Glazener, Chris Carlisle, Molly McCormack, Jon Hall, Guy George, Marilyn Barrett, Bob and Sherry King and Dennis Jackman. Free Concert starts at 2:30.
